Parents, we kicked off our annual (JBS/Eden also participate) magazine sale. I have attached directions for online purchases as well. All money raised from this event will go directly back to your child’s classroom through purchases we will be making for our intervention/enrichment groups. Check this form for more information.
Thanks to all the parents who participated in conferences yesterday evening. We look forward to our next night of conferences on November 10th. Here is this week’s news for MIS:
- Daylight Saving Time – Please remember to set your clocks back one hour prior to going to bed on Saturday evening.
- Student Drop-off: We request that you not drop your children off prior to 7:40am. There is no assigned adult supervision to watch your children until this time.
- Intermediate Swim Night will be held Friday, November 11th– the deadline for this has been extended to Wednesday, November 9th. This event will be held at Greenfield Central HS. If you plan to pay by check, please make them out to GCHS.
- Heelies – Evidently, these shoes are coming back into style. These shoes should NOT be worn to school for any reason. With the building having both stairs and tile floors, it is not safe for them to be worn here. Thanks, in advance, for your help with this.
- Toys for Tots – A donation box is available in the office for anyone who would like to contribute. This will be here through December 9th.
- YMCA FREE DAY in November: If your child would like to try-out one of the YMCA programs, they can attend for a day free of charge. If you are interested, please call 577-2070 for more information.

News/Upcoming Dates:
1. Volunteer Forms –if you intend to participate in any activity (attending a field trip, volunteering in a classroom or other school related activity), you must have a volunteer form submitted and approved. Corporation policy states that this must be done each year. Please plan to do this early as some have waited until the last minute in the past, and it has cost them an opportunity to attend an activity with their child. Please take care of this now so that come May when your child wants you to go with him/her on their trip he/she will not be disappointed that you cannot attend. Fill out your form now – just in case!! This can be printed from the attached pdf or going to the following website: http://apps.gcsc.k12.in.us/blogs/mis/pto/
2. Spell Bowl Try-Outs Begin Monday, September 19th
3. Fundraiser Orders – September 19th is the last day orders will be accepted.
4. 4th Grade Field Trip – September 20th
5. Book Fair will run September 19-23 with hours on Thursday, September 22 from 2:30-6:30pm
6. Family Literacy Night – September 22 from 6:30-7:30pm
7. Final Book Rental Payments Due October 1st
8. Picture Re-Takes – Friday, October 7th
9. End of First Grading Period – Friday, October 14th
10. Health Clinic News/Notes: The weather is changing and fall is upon us. With the change in seasons often come colds and other illnesses. Please remind your student of a few tips such as washing hands or using hand sanitizer periodically, as well as before eating, after restroom visits, and after coughing or sneezing which helps reduce the spread of germs. In turn, this helps prevent the spread of any illnesses. Encourage your student to cough into his/her sleeve rather than into the hands. Ask your student to avoid touching his/her nose, mouth, and eyes as these are prime areas for germs to enter. Finally, encourage your student to maintain a healthy diet and get plenty of sleep to help keep the immune system strong.
